Megan, Emma, Kelli, Madi, Alden and I decided to take a little trip to The Sacramento Zoo this morning. The girls are so fun to watch together, madi always wants to hug on Emma, and Emma always wants madi to STOP huggin on her! haha Madi had multiple melt downs because I wouldn't Uppy-doo her all day, but that's to be expected i guess. Alden did great, and so did Emma woot-woot. We even got to ride the new merry-go-round...thanks megan and emma for another wonderful day, hope we didn't scare you away with a dose of the crazy :)

So madi had her '2nd' Third birthday party on July 19th. We decided to do her family party over at My grandma's house in Folsom, we were surrounded by lots of family as well as madi's good friend Emma and her Mommy Megan. Yammy Yammy even made Madi her very own Ice Cream-dolly surprise and Ice Cream cake for the rest of us. It was a lot of fun in the sun, and enough to wear the kids completely out!

Poor Alden

Poor Alden had to get tubes in his ears today. After many, many, many ear infections in a short period of time, it was our last resort. In theory, it's a great idea, i just wish it was painless and didn't require anesthesia. Overall he did very well, he was only in surgery for about 5 minutes, but the anesthesia really took it's toll on the little guy. It took him about 45 minutes to really come out of it, and he was screaming the whole time, thrashing and throwing his head around. It was so hard for Michelle and I, because we really couldn't comfort him. I think there are few things that are worse than not being able to comfort ones crying baby. After he finally fell asleep in the car, we drove around taking madi to school, picking up perscriptions, etc...and when I finally got to work and unloaded the baby, he was beyond wonderful. Crawling, clapping, playing with toys, it was amazing, like the surgery had never happened. So here we are, besides a little leakage coming from each ear, he's great.

Easter

WOW, easter kept us very busy this year. We started out at Cross Pointe church in Lincoln (for those of you that don't know, i am in LOVE with this church), after church we went to Yammy Chelle's and Papa Greg's for the annual Easter Egg hunt, then off to Yammy Yammy and Great Papa's house in Folsom ( my grandparents) for lunch, then back to Yammy Chelle's and Papa Greg's for dinner...and then finally home to bed. It was busy, but it was fun and very full of everything and everyone that we love and cherish in our lives...Yes Chrissy, that most definitely includes you ;)

Madi really got into the Easter spirit this year, her and Alden had so much fun finding their Easter baskets that the Easter Bunny decided to hide this year. Alden was SO happy when he woke up, ready to start the day. I can't wait until next year when Alden is a little older, i think of how much more fun it will be to watch them find their treats from the Bunny himself.

So Tom left this morning at 3:30am to catch a flight to Atlanta Georgia...he will be there training for his new job for the next three weeks. He comes home on may 1st, and we're already anxiously awaiting his arrival. We miss you hunny, so much!

The kids are growing!

It's been a LOOOOONG time since my last post. Nothing really new except the kids getting bigger everyday. They are the absolute lights of my life and i am sooooo fortunate not only to have them as MY children, but to truely know in this moment how lucky i am every single day. I catch myself often just gazing at what tom and i have created; two beatiful children, a loving home, stability, consistancy, FUN...ha ha the list could go on and on. I'm not trying to toot my own horn, but i am proud of tom and I, that as a young couple we have our priorities straight and we do whats right for ourselves and our children.

So madi is two and a half, she'll be three on July 10th. She is constantly cracking us up with things that she says, she absolutely adores her little brother, and she LOVES princess anything. Her favorite is Ariel, in fact her birthday party will be 'the little mermaid' theme. We look forward to watching her grow each day...mostly i look forward to losing the 'binky' i just can't seem to do it, i've tried multiple times and aside from the misery it causes her, the timing just really hasn't been right. Tom leaves on Monday for three weeks for training, so perhaps i will try again. I am weak though, i can admit it, there is nothing worse to me than one of my little people crying! Madi loves telling me that "yer not da boss of me mom" all in fun of course...she knows who the boss is :)

Alden is 11 months old, he'll be one on May 5th CINCO DE MAYO people! ha ha He is such a boy, totally different than madi was. It's true when people say that boys are boys and girls are girls. Alden loves making car noises, dancing, pulling himself up on anything that will hold him, being near his sister, and playing with ANY type of Ball. His vocabulary is growing by the minute, he can now say...mama, dada, ball (BA), more (MO), and puff (PAH), he can also clap his hands and wave bye bye. His favorite toy these days seem to be Madi's doll house, or rather the people that live inside of it. He crawls over to it everyday and like king kong grabs a hold of the roof, pulls himself up and plucks the poor unsuspecting family from inside. His favorites are the baby and the Grandma...used to be the daddy, but we lost him in folsom at the outlets :(

So here we are, gearing up for lots of summer fun. Aldens birthday party next month, Montana in June, Madi's birthday party in July and maybe a nice and relaxing day in August on our Anniversay where tom and i can reflect on the many things that enrich our lives daily...maybe someday soon he'll humor me and we can add another one of the beautiful wonders to our family...I said 'maybe' ha ha.

Monterey 2009

So every year Tom's parents treat us kids to a wonderful trip to Monterey where we stay very close to the beach. This year we stayed at a place we've never been before, it was called The Lighthouse Lodge. Michelle and Greg reserved the suite of all suites for us all...it included a large living room with large kitchen, two master suites with attached bathrooms and fireplaces, a private backyard, and a private rooftop area where we could go and look out at the ocean. It was like a heavenly escape where the kids could go crazy and there was enough room for all of us. You should have seen our car once it was packed though, you would have thought we were moving out of state. It's impossible to travel light these days with a toddler and an infant, but it was well worth it, we had everything we needed.

While we were there, Michelle offered to watch Alden for an afternoon so that we could take Madi to a much anticipated trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. She had so much fun looking at all the FISHIES and touching the starfish and other sea creatures. The new Splash zone there was really amazing for little kids to just run around and kind of go nuts, but in an organized fashion. Overall, very fun and can't wait to go again, only with the little man next time, I missed him!

Madi's Letter to Santa

Christmas this year was really fun. Madi is two and a half now and really gets the whole Santa thing, and Alden...well he's just stinkin cute. We spent Christmas Eve at my Grandparents house, this is something we traditionally do every year, and then we spent Christmas morning at our home with Tom's mom Michelle and his dad Greg as well as his sister katie and her husband Casey. Thank you all for really making this Christmas a memorable one.

Side note: lately it's been really hard to take pictures of Madi because she doesn't ever sit still long enough...she's always on the go!

This year we spent Thanksgiving at my parents house, last year we were with tom's family...we alternate every year. It was so nice to be surrounded by family just soaking it up! My mom always has such a beautiful spread with the best home cooked food a girl could ask for. Shout out to my motha...hey, ho! There are many things to be thankful for this year and every year. Health, love, family, laughter, forgivness, and LIFE! I am so fortunate to spend so much time with my very favorites, madi chase and alden james...and my hunny too of course. I hope that eveyone else had an amazing thanksgiving as well.

Baby Liam

So remember the pictue a few posts down of my friend Lindsay and I at her baby shower?...Her due date was like Dec. 15th or something. Well, her little man Liam decided to be born Yesterday, a full 4 weeks early. Weighing a heafty 5 lbs 8 oz..ha ha. Cute as a bugs butt...welcome Liam, I can't wait to spoil you rotten.

Now it should be said that this is Lindsay and her husband Ben's first baby so this premature birth was totally unexpected. But Lindsay was a champ...when she finally showed up at the hospital to see why she was feeling so crummy, she was dialated to a whopping 8 cm...you go girl! Unfortunately, she was way beyond an epidural, but she still rocked the birth anyway.

I can not stand it when i try to put on my clothes after taking a shower. I hate how my shirt always gets rolled up high up on my back as i dance aroun like a fool trying to reach it. Bounce-U

My little cousin Karissa turns 6 next weekend...but we celebrated her birthday last weekend with a party at a place called BOUNCE-U, it's pretty much a place thats full of inflateables that little kids (and adults) can jump and climb on. Madi and i really liked the big slide and the obstacle course. We all started out in one room for about 30-45 minutes and then they shuffled the whole party to another room for about 30-45 minutes. Man it was so fun, but i was sweating like you wouldn't believe. Then the last shuffle was into a private room for birthday cake and presents. Thanks Karissa for inviting us to all the fun. Happy 6th Birthday!

Lindsay Baby

so my good friend Lindsay is pregnant with her first baby, his name is Liam...so cute. Thanks Tory and Dean for the cool name! Anyhoo, last weekend we went out to her Baby shower in Elk Grove and enjoyed ourselves while she macked on some awesome gifts including a Coach diaper bag and about 30 packs of diapers! You go girl. Trick Or Treat

What a wonderful night i had with my two favorite Bumble Bees. This was the first year that madi really understood what Trick or Treating was all about. She walked up to each door with her cousin Alan and so cutely said "twik o tweet' and then she ALWAYS said "Tank you" .

And an added extra (which is always nice) my bestest friend Kelli (aka P) was able to join us in the festivities. Thanks P for all you help with the kiddos, and pretty much just your company...luv you! P just moved here from Montana almost two months ago, and i don't know how she feels about it, but i couldn't be happier to have her so close :) Not to mention the fact that Madi worships the ground she walks on!

Early in the day Madi went with Yammy Michelle and Papa Greg to her preschool for a Harvest Festival. All the kids were outside in their costumes running crazy. Madi ran into Alan, Yammy DeeDee and papa Mike while she was there.

Overall, Halloween was a Success this year.

A moment to reflect on the awsomeness that is my son. I gotta say, i love this little man so much it makes my face hurt. I think because all i do is smile when i think about him, or see him, or kiss him, or snuggle him, or think of him...oh wait i already said that...hee hee. He is just the most perfect little thing, so smiley, he reminds me so much of my dad, we even call him little papa mike! He definitely has the irish temper though, he can go from 0-60 in like a blink of an eye...the nice thing is that he never holds a grudge and he is very quick to smile any time i tickle his ribs with my nose...you have to be there i guess. Madi likes the rain...mostly because she really loves her rain boots and her rain coat...can't blame her though. I actually got really jealous as i watched her dance and jump in the puddles with her boots on...i wanna turn!

The Pony.

We took Madi and Alden to Apple hill a few weeks ago...For weeks before we went all Madi could talk about was riding the Pony. She talked about how she would pet him and hold on tight and say giddy-up and what not. So needless to say, after 30 minutes of standing in line at High Hill for the pony rides, giggling with anticipation as we inched closer to the front, standing at the rope as the next one to choose a pony-watching the other kids finish their ride, needless to say as i picked madi up to finally help her butt meet the saddle...she freaked. No way was she gonna ride that horse, i mean pony, And seriously, i picked the tiniest pony there was, I've seen Great Danes that are larger. She liftes her legs in the air and wrapped them around my waist as she not so quietly proclaimed NOOOOOOO! uh ha ha...i begin to sweat as my heart starts beating faster...the other parents are staring...the other kids are on their ponies ready and anxious to begin their rides. Their moms and dads have their cameras raised as they wait for my little 'princess' to decide what the heck she's gonna do...ride? or leave? So I ask her what she wants to do and she insists that she wants to ride the pony, so again i attempt to sit her on the saddle and again she freaks. You'd think i would just walk away at this point, which i was going to do, but then another little girl came in and sat on the pony and Madi stinkin lost it. 'MY PONY" she began to cry. So i told her SHHHHHHHH madi, lets wait until after this ride and then you can see if you want to go on the next one. (the pony attendant said it was ok to just stay there and try again) so we waited, the whole what, like 5 minutes until the ride was over. Again i approach microscopic pony to place the princess' butt on the saddle...and again, no joke, she loses it. So tom and i packed our sh*t and got the hell out of dodge...I know what you're all thinking. Why didn't we just leave after the first time that she refused to ride? This was what Tom proposed, and of course, he was right. Anyway, i just thought that i should give her time to ease into it...she had been talking about it for so long...she even has a little pony rocking horse at home that she loves to ride...well, the pony incident was just a pre-curser into the rest of the day unfortunately...but we still had fun and still got some great pics of our sweet little peanut, that we love soooooo much, even though she's really bossy and quirky...we wouldn't want her any other way.

so it's been over a month since my last post. I guess i just got so behind and then i thought i could never catch up again, but i'm taking steps forward...just bare with me. To save me time and space i will just say that in the last 5 or 6 weeks we have done many fun things incluing camping in tahoe and many fun outings, i will only post a couple of pictures because i am just moving forward from here...but let it be known that we did do those things, i'm not a complete waste as a mom hee hee.

Well, my newest obsession is starting to make baby food for Alden. I read it on Katy's blog how she makes Claire's food and i'm so excited to start making his. My dr. wants me to wait until he's 6 months like Madi was when she started solids, but i don't know if he can wait :) Maybe just a few more weeks, in the mean time i'll just make it and freeze it until he's ready.

here are a couple of pictures from our camping trip at the end of august. We had such a good time. Both kids did awesome sleeping in the tent (madi had a hard time in the middle of the night and always ended up in bed with me...HELLO, the best part of camping is SNUGGLING.

This last weekend I decided to take the kids up to the river with my parents and Alan so that we could all get a little energy out...and I could have a little adult conversation. Madi had so much fun playing with Alan, swimming, and climbing rocks. We were there all day on Sunday and Madi refused to take a nap...but on our way home that night her and Alden crashed hard!

Stuff for the Daddy...

Well honey, we miss you more than you could ever imagine...only one more week and i hope it goes by as fast as this last one did. Alden has his 3 months photos with Debbie (http://www.dshorophoto.com/) on Saturday, we're really excited about that. It's going to be so neat to compare them to Madi's pictures of her at the same age.

Yesterday auntie Katie came by just after 10am and hung out for most of the afternoon, it was so fun just to visit and talk about school starting back up again (Auntie Katie is a teacher at Jesuit High), I also got Katie into blogging, we set up her page and everything. Just as Katie was leaving for the day Joanna got here to help me with the kids and visit as well. It's just really nice to have such a great support network that is so close by to help when Tom's away...it makes it that much easier. Thank you both for all of your help and mostly just your company. Here are some pics of our awesome day yesterday.

Potty Time

So Tom and I started potty training Madi about 5 weeks ago, and she's done suprisingly well with it, even when we're not at home. She has her little potty chair that she uses most of the time and she even wears pull-ups now instead of real diapers which i think help her feel more like a big girl. The only problems that we have encountered are as follows:

1:) Madi is no dummy, she knows that she can use the "I PEE PEE!" excuse at any time, and I mean ANY time. So lets say we've just had a long and exhausting night of chasing miss thang around trying to get her in the tubby, then her jammies, then sitting down on the couch for a nice cup of soy milk (baba milt) and a quick viewing of the Upside Down Show...a Madi Chase favorite. Then after that it's into the bathroom for brushing teeth, into her room for a story...we say our prayers, we tuck her in with all three close companions Bunny-Boy, Pooh, and Monkey (her Baby Brook doll will occasionally join her, it depends on the night and what Brook's already got planned) We give her x-amount of kisses and hugs, turn on her aquarium music thingy and lights off. She remembers that she misses Daddy and has to run back down the hall for one final kiss, then back into her bed right by the door mind you so that Madi can "Watch" as she likes to put it. So an hour has passed and she's finally in bed right? WRONG! as we settle into the couch for some random show we hear..."mommy, daddy...i pee pee" at first we say, yeah right she's just saying it...we wait a few more minutes then we hear "MOMMY, DADDY...I PEE PEE!" ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT...in we go she runs out to the potty takes off all her clothes (the only way madi knows how to go potty) and looks right at us with the cutest face in the world and says "NO NIGH NIGH"

You see people, this small human child of a mere 2, has grasped the importance of potty and how ape sh*t mommy and daddy go when she has to do it, and when she does do it...therefore she plays that potty card to the best of her ability...at bed time when she doesn't want to go nigh nigh. Can we blame her? the answer is no, and tom and i actually think it's pretty stinkin funny, and cute! But we're onto her now...we're onto her. But what is our other option, if we say no, too bad, she'll pee in her pants (if she genuinely has to go this time) and then she'll think that she can't go when she needs to...so here we are running in circles for the pee-pee queen. All hail the Queen!

2.) We can't seem to keep clothes on this little thing.

Clearly one of our issues is greater than the other...unless she never grows out of #2.) then i don't know what we're gonna do.

Anyhoo...i'll keep everyone updated on her potty progress...

The Diamond Anniversary!

This last weekend my family and I celebrated my grandparents' 60th wedding anniversary by throwing a surprise party for them in the church social hall at St. Peter and Paul. It was so fun to see their reactions when they walked in and everyone yelled "SURPRISE or as madi says "PRIZE!" My grandpa started clapping like crazy while my grandma started crying and collapsed against the wall...we got them to the church by telling them it was Alden's Baptism...they bought it hook, line, and sinker...suckers! It was such a fun day of visiting, yummy food, and memories through a photo slide show of the last 60 years.

It's so crazy to actually sit down and think of spending 60 years with the one that you love, having children and raising your family together, literally growing up and growing old with each other. Tom and I always say that we're so excited to have grandchildren some day, we just love having our two little loves and embracing family togetherness, we can't wait to see what the future holds down the line. I know one thing is for sure, we will defintely see 60 years together. This weekend was just a great reminder for me of the wonderful man that i am so lucky to have in my life, to share my life with, to raise our kids together, to travel the world together, and to always be thankful that we found eachother so early in our lives. I love you Tom and miss you very much, even though you've only been gone two days. (side note: tom is in North Carolina for two weeks in training on a new product with Glaxo Smith Kline)

Another great part about this weekend was that my sister Isobel came to visit with her husband Joe and their kids J.J and Jordan (aka Jordi) from Santa Cruz and stayed two nights with us. We don't get to see eachother very often, so I really tried to visit as much as i could. I wanted to just hog her to myself the whole time, but i had to share her with 'the others' dangit! But we had so much fun watching jordi and madi play together...they are the only two girls out of all eight grandkids, and they're so stinkin cute together when they play...that is when they're not yelling at eachother, hitting eachother, or screaming "MINE"...I swear, they do love one another :) Thank Izzy for making the drive up and staying with us.

My cousin Ryan and his wife Lanelle and their two kids Kaylee (oh man, i'm not sure how to spell her name) and Paul came all the way from Boise Idaho for the party as well as a family vacation in general i think. It was so good to see them and the kids, they are growing up so fast. I didn't get a chance to get any pictures of the kids while they were here, but i'll have to post them after i steal them from some one else. It was so good to see you guys, hope you had a safe trip home!

Three in the Bed

This morning after tom got up for work i got some company in my bed...they were so cute! Madi wanted Alden to sit in her nest (in her legs) which i didin't think he would go for, but surprisingly he seemed to enjoy it.

The Shirt!

Yesterday Tom got madi dressed for the day, i know, a feat in itself. But it's so funny because he always chooses the clothes i would never ever choose. I would always pick something like a little sun dress with bloomers, or a cute pair of shorts and tank top, or maybe some overalls with a cute shirt...either way, they would always match. Tom, however finds the most random stuff. Yesterday he found a hand-me-down shirt (note: nothing wrong with hand-me-downs, i grew uo in them) from Madi's cousins in Montana (it was hanging in the back of the closet, i don't even know how he found it...besides the point), it's golden yellow and it's a little big and faded...anyway, he paired this with a small pair of light green sweat shorts. Alright, i know it's not a fashion show, whatever, but she absolutely LOVES anything Tom picks and refuses to take it off. SO here we are a whole day later and she still won't let me take it off. so i've been taking it off in small pieces...we're just down to the shirt now...keep your fingers crossed that by the end of the day she'll be either in her birthday suit, or another outfit!

Moral of the story...if you have a shirt that you hate...don't put it in the closet where the Daddy can find it!

The Plunge!

OMG I never thought i'd actually do it. I've started blogging! I know, I know, take a deep breath...well here it goes. I Love (with a capital L) reading other peoples blogs...even people that i don't know...especially people that i don't know :) It's a really bad habit that i have, and it's almost taken over my life completely. Every morning when i wake up i get on the computer to check my email, check foxnews.com (i gotta know whats happening in the news- i love the drama), check myspace, and then start reading random peoples blogs. I figured the only way i'm going to get better isto start my own...so here it is. Boring? Perhaps. But i can't help that i'm not as witty as some of you other bloggers out there. I'll work on that.

(quick intro) My name is Jenny, i'm married to a wonderful man named Tom, and we have two beautiful children, Madison who is 2, and baby Alden who is 3 months. (whoa, you'd think i've never taken an english class...talk about run on sentence.)

Which brings up a good question. All you other bloggers out there, do the rules of general grammer still apply? are you all re-reading all your posts before you make them to make sure that your commas are in the right spot, you sentences are complete, and there are nouns, verbs, and yadda yaddas? Let me know, because i absoultely HAVE to fit in with what everyone else is doing...ya thats right i'm a class "A" follower aka Copy Cat...

Well, I will continue to blog and post pics and what not...i'll get the hang of this eventually...hang in there for me!
